A 6-person team made up of former and serving members of the Special Reconnaissance Regiment are attempting to complete the Marathon Des Sables (Legendary 39th Edition) in April 2025, to raise money for the Regimental Association.
For those who have not heard of MDS (Marathon Des Sables), it is recognised as one of the most challenging multi-day running events in the world. It covers 250+ kilometres over 7 days through the Moroccan Sahara Desert at the beginning of April. The race requires participants to be completely self-sufficient (carrying everything such as food and sleeping system) as well as managing rationed water and exposure to the sun. The nature of the challenge means although we are all doing a lot of training and conditioning our bodies to function in this austere environment completing the ultramarathon is not guaranteed.
As a team we are hoping to raise £50,000 for the Special Reconnaissance Regiment Association. No doubt reading this you will know that the SRRA provides vital support to both former and serving service members as well as their families.
